Spinach Winter Giant is a rapidly growing variety intended for autumn seeding. It is resistant to low temperatures and winters well in the ground. This plant produces smooth pale green leaves that are rich in vitamin C. It is intended for direct consumption after harvest and freezing.

Usage and Benefits

Sow Spinach Winter Giant seeds lightly in March to April or August to September. Plant in sunny locations during autumn and winter or in shaded areas during summer. Prepare fresh soil well loosened and aerated. Sow seeds two to three centimeters deep in rows spaced twenty five to thirty centimeters apart. Firm soil gently after sowing and water. Cover seeds with a protective cloth until they emerge. Thin seedlings to ten centimeters apart. Weed between rows and apply mulch to reduce competition from weeds. Water frequently if soil is dry to prevent seedlings from drying out. Avoid high heat as it can cause plants to bolt quickly. Ideal for fresh eating and freezing.
